Tito Okello returned to haunt Uganda Cranes as he scored the winner in South Sudan stunning victory at Nyayo in the 2021 Afcon qualifiers.
The former Vipers and KCCA forward scored from the spot in the 35th minute after a foul in the area by Allan Okello.
Earlier, Uganda had been reduced to ten men after a straight red card was shown to midfielder Aucho Khalid for a foul on a South Sudan forward who was through on goal.
Cranes coach Johnathan McKinstry had made six changes to the side that started at Kitende giving starts to Vipers’ Halid Lwaliwa, Karim Watambala and Disan Galiwango.
The defeat leaves Uganda trailing table leaders Burkina Faso, who drew goalless with Malawi in Blantyre by one point while South Sudan picked their first win of the campaign.
Action in the qualifiers will resume in March next year with Uganda at home to Burkina Faso.
