Sadolin Paints 0-1 Police
Police extended their dominance over Sadolin Paints with a slim 1-0 win victory courtesy of Joseph Ssentume’s second half header.
The Jinja side, who have conceded their first defeat after a seven-game unbeaten run, will have their strikers to blame for wasting open chances earlier in the game.
Fred Segujja, who was returning to the first team after being out due to unfitness, failed to convert the first open chance after six minutes when Allan Oryek sent him through with a quick pass that beat the Cops backline but with only the goalie beat, he missed.
He was again put to task just after the game restarted for the second period but again was lethargic.
Oryek again exchanged quick telepathic passes with Nasser Muzamir and Nazil but once more, the final touch from Segujja left the bench with no option but to pull him off.
Police offered better resistance towards the hour after coach Sam Timbe brought on Ben Ocen for Reuben Liners in the 50th minute.
Ocen proved worth minutes later, beating off an offside trap and speeding to the box but his goal-bound shot was deflected out for a corner by Ssajjabbi.
Osman Mutumba dinked in an inviting ball from the resultant corner and the unmarked Joseph Ssentume headed in his second league goal of the season.
The win takes Police to 41 points while the painters stagnate in eighth place with 38.
