Uganda Cranes fans are set to win big after the national team sponsors, Airtel, launched a mega 53-day campaign that will see them win goodies ranging from brand new cars, millions of cash and 5000 match tickets.
This is part of the wider build-up to Uganda’s final 2017 Afcon qualifying fixture at home to Comoros on the weekend of September 2-4.
Cranes coach Micho Sredojevic’s men need only victory to qualify either automatically or as one of the two second best placed teams.
Airtel head of brand and communications, Remmie Kisakye, says that as sponsors, they believe the agonizing 39-year absence from Afcon is about to end and that it’s the right time to reward the long-suffering supporters.
“We are giving away 100 tickets and Shs1m daily and a brand new car weekly,” Kisakye told the media at Airtel offices in Kampala on Wednesday.
“Come September 3 when Uganda plays Comoros at Namboole, we will have given away 5,000 match tickets, Shs53m and eight cars to our subscribers, who are only required to recharge their Airtel airtime. It’s time to recharge our passion for our team.”
Kisakye said that winners in the promotion will be contacted by the 0752600200 line and draws will be conducted live on selected TV stations.
Fufa president Moses Magogo applauded the Airtel ‘Mujje Tulumbe’ campaign. “The government only helped us in the away game against Comoros and the other four Afcon qualification matches have been handled by Airtel,” said Magogo.
“With their support, the player bonuses and the national team finances have been catered for in time.”
