The Saints 1-2 Express
Express edged the Saints 2-1 in Bombo on Saturday to keep up their pursuit of leaders KCCA in the Azam Uganda Premier League (UPL).
A Dennis Ssekitoleko own goal and John Ssemazi second half strike capped it for the Red Eagles while Ivan Kiwewa’s effort for the Saints could only count for a consolation.
Victory moves Alex Gitta’s men to eight points from four matches but victory for Vipers and a draw for Villa ensures the Red Eagles stay fourth.
Defeat for Moses Basena’s Saints, their second in four games, sees them drop four places to 12th on four points.
Express took the lead at the army barracks on 31 minutes when Ssekitoleko turned the ball into his own net.
Kiweewa brought the hosts to level terms on 56 minutes but Ssemazi had other ideas, hitting the winner with 19 minutes to go.
