Matchday 17, Wednesday Results
- KCCA 2–1 BUL
- Lugazi 1–0 UPDF
- Calvary 0–0 Express
KCCA ended a mini slump by overcoming BUL 2-1 at the Philip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo – reclaiming momentum after back-to-back defeats to NEC and Entebbe UPPC.
The side came into the game under pressure, sitting sixth on the log with 30 points, eight behind leaders Vipers, and eager to ease scrutiny on the coaching duo of Brian Ssenyondo and Jackson Magera.
KCCA started strongly, pressing for an early goal, and it came in the 31st minute when Ivan Ahimbisibwe headed home Saidi Mayanja’s precise cross, following an effective build-up involving Bwambale Lazaro.
BUL, rejuvenated under Alex Isabirye, responded just before halftime when Denis Ssewagudde converted a free-kick in stoppage time, leveling the score at 1-1 and threatening to dampen KCCA’s hopes of victory.
The second half saw KCCA reassert control, and Herbert Achai restored the lead in the 48th minute with a clinical finish from Ashraf Mugume’s assist.
Achai later had to be replaced by James Mubezi in the 70th minute due to injury, but the substitution did not hinder KCCA’s ability to manage the game and secure all three points.
Ahimbisibwe’s opener earned him Man of the Match honours as KCCA climbed to 33 points in fourth place, while BUL remained eighth with 20 points.
At Lugazi Stadium, a relegation six-pointer unfolded as the hosts narrowly beat UPDF 1-0.
Richard Adriko’s early goal from Abdul Kalanzi’s delivery in the 15th minute proved decisive.
UPDF pushed for an equalizer but could not breach Lugazi’s defense. The win moves Lugazi to 10th place with 18 points, while UPDF remain 15th with 12 points after 17 matches. Adriko’s goal earned him Man of the Match recognition.
Elsewhere, Calvary and Express played out a goalless draw in Yumbe. Both sides created chances – Calvary through Simon Odeke and Lawrence Olaboro, and Express via Elvis Ssekajugo – but neither could convert.
Calvary remain at the bottom of the table with five points, while Express stay 11th with 18 points.
