Kirinya-Jinja 2-0 Express
Express’ hopes of avoiding relegation suffered a huge dent on Tuesday after succumbing to a 2-0 defeat to resurgent Kirinya in Jinja.
Fred Amaku and Anthony Mayanja scored for the hosts as they bounced back from a 1-0 defeat to KCCA.
The victory, Kirinya’s 11th in 23 Uganda Premier League (UPL) matches, keeps them in fourth position on standings with 37 points, six behind leaders SC Villa.
For Express, the six-time league champions, it couldn’t get worse.
That was the Red Eagles’ 13th defeat in 22 matches, ensuring they stay third from bottom on only 19 points.
Coach Shafiq Bisaso’s men now have only eight matches to salvage the situation.
