Tuesday SUPL result
Ndejje 2-1 Vipers
Vipers SC handed KCCA further initiative in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) title race when they fell to Ndejje 2-1 at Arena of Visions on Tuesday.
Ndejje’s win saw Vipers stay three points behind KCCA, who have now played a game fewer, with seven matches left for the Venoms.
KCCA travel to Tooro for Wednesday’s clash against the hosts with a chance to stretch their lead at the summit to six points at 51.
Robert Eseru and Ntege Anwar scored for Ndejje on 23 and 53 minutes while Tito Okello’s 62nd minute penalty for Vipers only passed for a consolation.
“Sometimes players don’t follow instructions. We wanted to attack and get an early goal but only after conceding did we play the way we were supposed to,” said Edward Golola, one of Vipers coaches.
“We usually win our games in the first half, like against Bright Stars and Express but it seems the players underated Ndejje but there are no easy games in the league,” he added.
Victory, meanwhile, boosted Ndejje’s survival hopes with the Lions now on 19 points, three behind Maroons – who have played a game fewer.
“If we can get a result against a team like Vipers then it gives us confidence that we can attain our goal of surviving relegation,” Ndejje coach Raymond Komakech said.
