SC Villa 3-3 Soana

SC Villa and Soana played to an entertaining 3-3 draw at Nakivubo Stadium on Friday that all but ended their faint title hopes.

The hosts, SC Villa, started well and deservedly got in front in the seventh minute with Martin Kizza getting the opener.

The attacking midfielder got at the end of Patrick Mbowa long ball, beat his man before shooting at the near post leaving Didi Muhammad in Soana goal with no chance.

Five minutes later, Mike Ndera doubled the Jogoos lead with a nice goal with Abel Eturude bagging an assist.

This prompted coach Charles Ayiekoh to make an immediate change replacing Ayub Kizza with team captain Timothy Musinguzi. The change settled the somewhat shaky backline.

The visitors now started to take control of proceedings with Willy Kavuma and Dan Wagaluka the chief architects in the middle of the park.

In the 25th minute, Soana pulled one back through Allan Kayiwa, whose long range shot caught goalie Nicholas Ssebwato off guard.

Six minutes later, a decent move started by Musinguzi in the back found saw Wagaluka release Simon Okwi with a well weighted long ball on the right.

The former KCCA striker then beat his marker before laying a tempting ball for youngster Musa Esenu. who made no mistake but slot home from close range to make it 2-2.

The Jogoos had a chance to retake the lead but Ndera’s shot from over 35 yards hit the woodwork as the two teams went into the break tied.

SC Villa coach Ibrahim Kirya substituted an inefficient Abdul-Karim Kasule for Godfrey Lwesibawa.

The move paid dividends in the 59th minute as the former Express midfielder set up Kizza for his second and SC Villa’s third.

The lead lasted just three minutes as Wagaluka hit the back of the net from a free kick after Henry Katongole fouled substitute Francis Olaki.

Kizza thought he had completed a hat trick after getting at the end of another Lwesibawa pass but he was adjudged to have been offside.

The result means SC Villa have now gone four successive matches without victory. The Jogoos are eighth on the log with 38 points while Soana stay fourth with 45.
