SC Villa 1-0 Soana

Vitalis Tabu came off the bench to score the only goal of the game as SC Villa began the hunt for an elusive 17th league title with a win over Soana.

In a game played at Masaka Recreation Ground, Wasswa Bbosa named only four debutants on the team captained by Bernard Muwanga who played as an anchorman.

SC Villa threatened from the first whistle but Meddie Kibirige in Soana’s goal was at hand to save the situation.

It was a similar story in the second half but without a breakthrough until substitute Tabu, who had come on Allan Kyambadde, struck a beauty of a free kick to send the home fans into frenzy.

Simon Sserunkuma then missed a clear cut opportunity to double the Jogoos lead as the game ended with the Blues claiming maximum points.

The three points put the side on top of the log as all the other games ended in stalemates.

The Blues’ next game is away to Police at Namboole on Saturday.

The Cops weren’t in action today after their opponents, Masavu had no licenses and are likely to win the game by forfeiture.
