Completion of the 2020/21 Stanbic Uganda Cup got a huge boost when President Yoweri Museveni lifted basic restrictions on sports action a week ago.

Local soccer body, Fufa, has announced that the semifinals draw will now take place on Monday at the FA headquarters at Mengo, a Kampala outskirt.

StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) sides including Bul, Vipers SC, Express and Police are the teams left in the competition.

Uganda Cup winner and Express legend Fred Tamale will conduct the draw, according to Fufa.

Fufa applied the 75 per cent rule to declare league winners for the second season running, thanks to Covid-enforced lockdowns.

Express, who topped the table with four games to go at the time, were declared winners.

The season before Vipers were declared league champions with five games to go.

But the Uganda Cup was given the benefit of doubt, and that patience now looks like it will pay off.
