The Uganda Premier League (UPL) Secretariat and Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) held their promised stakeholders meeting on safety and security on Wednesday.
It comes in the wake of recent hooliganism at the StarTimes Uganda Premier League matches.

Participants included the UPL Board, officials of FUFA and UPL Secretariat, and a FUFA Referees Standing Committee representative.
Chairman Arinaitwe Rugyendo and member Fred ‘Guy’ Kawuma represented the UPL board.
UPL CEO Bernard Bainamani led his Secretariat (pictured below) that included League Manager Paul Kabaikaramu and Head of Communications, League Safety & Security Officer Gordon Roy Mundeyi.
Also present was the FUFA Deputy CEO (Football) Decolas Kiiza (gesturing below).
FUFA Director of Competitions Aisha Nalule and the chairman FUFA Referees Standing Committee Brian Nsubuga (emphasizing a point below).
The discussion centred on the way forward on hooliganism and violence in the league.
According to UPL Head of Communications, League Safety and Security officer, Mundeyi, “progressive meetings, including with security heads at club level” will continue.
Sanctions have already been dished out to SC Villa and Busoga United for the most recent acts of violence that involved fans of the said clubs throwing dangerous objects during games.
