Their last league title came in 2004, then under former Cranes coach Micho Sredojevic.
It has been a painstaking wait, but now with SC Villa kicking off the second round top of the Azam Uganda Premier League (UPL) table, the Jogoos are determined to push it until the end.
Coach Wasswa Bbosa’s men open their second round account at home to Maroons, a side they drew with during the initial round, on Saturday.
“The belief in our camp is that we must end this 14-year-wait for a league title at this club,” Villa legend and assistant coach Paul Mukatabala told upl.co.ug.
“The boys are desperate to become heroes and that’s a big positive. Our headache in the first round was our inability to convert the many chances we create in every match.
“But we have been able to acquire on loan, Ugandan striker, Davies Kasirye, from Zambian outfit Zesco United and that should help.”
Villa top standings on 32 points, three ahead of reigning champions KCCA, half way the campaign. Vipers are third on 26 points.
