Caf Confederation Cup second round
Second leg
Villa 1-0 Fus Rabat (Morocco)
Fus advance 7-1 on aggregate
The fixture was long sorted in Morocco 10 days ago after SC Villa suffered a 7-0 annihilation at the hands of Fus Rabat.
And SC Villa were never going to score eight times without reply in this second round Caf Confederations Cup return leg at Namboole, really.
But like the club coach Ibrahim Kirya said before the game, they were going to put up a fight.
Put up a fight they did on Wednesday, managing to win the tie 1-0 thanks to a 56th minute penalty by striker Umar Kasumba.
Villa, however, beat a Rabat side without of seven of the players that played the return leg. Not that they cared.
The Jogoos themselves made three changes to their first leg team with Abel Eturude, Dennis Kamanzi and Martin Kizza replacing Henry Katongole, Taddeo Lwanga and Ambrose Kirya.
Kamanzi repaid Kirya’s faith, showing endurance to force his way into the box where he was fouled.
Kasumba stepped forward and thumped home the resultant penalty to the right corner of Rabat goalkeeper Aymen Majid on 56 minutes.
The visitors withheld further Villa pressure in the remaining period to progress to the group stage 7-1 on aggregate.
