Villa pip Ondu to stretch lead

Saturday result

Onduparaka 0-1 SC Villa

SC Villa became the first Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) side to beat Onduparaka at the latter’s home stadium of Green Light since the West Nile outfit joined top tier football two years ago.

Godfrey Lwesibawa’s eighth minute strike was enough to break onduparaka’s home sanctuary as the table leaders withered the pressure to claim all three points.

Victory sees coach Wasswa Bbosa’s Villa open up a four-point lead on reigning champions KCCA, who were not in action on the day. Villa now have 40.

Mike Mutebi’s KCCA have, however, played two matches fewer than the Jogoos.

Defeat for Onduparaka, their seventh of the season, keeps them sixth on the table on 29 points.
