Vipers cede more ground in title race

Defending Azam Uganda Premier League (UPL) champions Vipers’ mixed form continued as they ceded further ground in the race to the 2016 title with a goalless draw at Police on Tuesday.

The result leaves coach George Nsimbe’s men eight points behind leaders KCCA, who saw off Bright Stars 2-1 in Matugga to move to 44 points.

Vipers will, however, take consolation from the fact that they have played one game fewer than KCCA.

The two-time winners came into this fixture on the back of only two wins from the previous five matches.

Their opponents, Police, have also been enduring a stop-start season and came into this on the back of two wins and three defeats in their last five.

The point off Vipers, who they beat 3-1 in the first round, leaves Police seventh but moves them to 33 points.
