Vipers pip Maroons to go top

Tuesday result

Maroons 1-2 Vipers

Vipers went top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) table following a come-from-behind 2-1 victory away at Maroons on Friday.

This was their second win in as many games after a late Davis Kasirye goal handed them a narrow 1-0 victory over Ndejje University last Friday.

The same man was on show at Luzira. Pius Obuya first gave Maroons the lead by racing onto a through ball by Seif Batte to round goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora on 23 minutes.

But Vipers responded in similar style, Kasirye side stepping Maroons goalkeeper Ashadu Bugembe after he was put through by Duncan Sseninde.

On the stroke of halftime Waiswa scored what turned out to be the winner, curling in a freekick beyond the despairing Bugembe.

Maroons, who improved in the second half, then thought they had equalised only for referee Mashood Ssali to cancel out their strike after adjudging Batte to have handled before the ball crossed the line.
