Yunus Sentamu equalised five minutes from full time to salvage a point for hosts Vipers SC after Cromwell Rwothomio had given URA a first half lead at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Wednesday.
The result ensured the table standings stayed the same, with URA in first place on 51 points, one more than Vipers, with five matches to go.
It also allowed third-placed Express to close in, their tense 3-2 win over Kyetume moving them to 49 points.
Two quick-fire first half goals, Eric Kambale for Express and Ezira Kaye for hosts Kyetume lit the game inside the first five minutes.
But Express tore away after the break, in-form Kambale getting his and Express’s second on 59 minutes before completing his hat-trick six minutes after the hour.
The Red Eagles looked like they were running away with it with little resistance.
But Biza Ezira pulled one back in the second added minute to provide a tense, thrilling finale. Express, however, held on for all three points.
At the MTN Phillip Omondi Stadium, Police and KCCA played out a goalless draw.
In Masindi, Patrick Kusemererwa and Edison Agondeze scored two late second half goals to prevent Bul from winning.
Joseph Semujju’s two first half goals had given the hosts hope of running away with victory.
