As a matter of fact, this season’s curtain rising tournament served as a positive launchpad for six other clubs to tune up for the new season.
It also gave playing time to some national team players who featured in the Cranes Select.
The Cranes Select participated as guests, making up the eight teams in the competition.
The other seven competed by virtue of how they finished in the table last season.
Elsewhere, a Henry Kitegenyi brace earned Cranes Select the third place bragging rights at the expense of Kitara, whom they beat 2-0.
KCCA finished fifth after edging NEC 1-0, thanks to Abubaker Mayanja’s goal.
Francis Onekalit and Patrick Jonah Kakande’s goals secured SC Villa the seventh place in the 2-0 win over Maroons.
The 2024/25 SUPL season kicks off next Friday, September 13, with KCCA at home to URA headlining Matchday One at Lugogo.
