NEC and Hussein Mbalangu have officially mutually parted company, the club has confirmed.
The confirmation comes less than two weeks after the club suspended him accusing him of divided loyalty due to his involvement in the Masaza Cup with Ssingo.
“We announce today that a decision has been made to mutually terminate our contract with Head Coach Hussein Mbalangu, effective immediately,” a club statement released on Wednesday November 5, 2025 read.
“In a joint agreement, the club has unconditionally relieved and released Coach Mbalangu from all obligations associated with his role as Head Coach.
“Both parties have confirmed that no further liabilities or obligations will exist between them, allowing Coach Mbalangu the freedom to join any club of his choice.”
In the meantime, James Odoch remains as the interim head coach and will take charge of a third game when they host BUL on Saturday but the club confirmed a permanent appointment will be made public soon.
“We extend OUR gratitude to Coach Mbalangu for his invaluable contributions to the team and wish him the very best in his future endeavors.
“A permanent appointment shall be announced soon.”
Mbalangu joined NEC in their first season the premier league and led them to second place last season and also took the club to the Uganda Cup final in his first season.
