NEC have suspended their head coach Hussein Mbalangu for two months, the club has confirmed.

Mbalangu’s suspension comes after the club’s early elimination from the Caf Confederation Cup and also a false start in the premier league where they have drawn two matches in as many so far.

According to the statement released by the club however, Mbalangu’s suspension is not connected to the club performance but professional and ethical misconduct.

“Head Coach Mbalangu Hussein has been suspended due to professional and ethical misconduct, effective immediately,” read part of the statement that also confirmed James Odoch, his immediate assistant takes over the role of interim.

“In the interim, James Odoch will assume the role of Head Coach.”

Odoch’s reign starts with a daunting trip to Entebbe UPPC on Saturday at Fisheries Grounds, Bugonga.

Okao ruled out until next season

Meanwhile, the club also confirmed defender Jacob Okao has undergone a successful surgery on the tendon Achilles that will keep out for 6-12 months.

The centre back featured in the 2-2 draw with Police over the weekend but was withdrawn after a collision with an opponent.
