The outstanding performers of the 2024/25 StarTimes Uganda Premier League shared heartfelt reactions after officially receiving their accolades in partnership with Centenary Bank.
Allan Okello, the season’s top scorer, said, “I would like to give thanks to the accolade sponsor, which is Centenary Bank, for making sure that we get this accolade at the end of the season. It really motivates me as a player. It motivates players to work really hard and at the end of the day you get to achieve something.”
He added, “For me, being the top scorer of the season, I would like to give credit to my fellow teammates, the coaches and everyone who supported me, my family, for being with me throughout the last season. It was really hard for me. We kept on going and it was quite a bumpy journey, but at the end of the season we achieved a lot together as a team.”
Okello highlighted special moments from the campaign, saying, “My best goal that season was against NEC FC. It was a decisive game and after winning that game we knew we were going to become the champions. Maybe also the second goal I scored against KCCA FC stands out, but the NEC game was very special.” He also extended gratitude to his club president, stating, “I would like to give credit to our president Lawrence Mulindwa for supporting us off the pitch and making sure that we got everything we needed.”
URA FC’s Moses Aliro, who secured the accolade for most assists, was equally thankful. He said, “I’m so glad upon winning this accolade. I would like to thank my teammates and the technical team that made it easy for me to take this. I also would like to thank the sponsor, Centenary Bank, that made it possible for this to reach us. These are the things that always push players to go forward.”
Kitara FC goalkeeper Chrispas Kusiima, who walked away with the Golden Glove, was delighted. He said, “I’m very happy for this wonderful award and I would like to thank my teammates of Kitara FC who made me win this. It was as a team that I became victorious. I would like to thank our many sponsors and Centenary Bank. Thank you so much. I’m grateful for this sweet award.”
