Police hit the ground running after the international break on Wednesday, moving top of the table on 14 points after a composed 2–0 win away to Entebbe UPPC at the Fisheries Ground in Bugonga.

Lawrence Tezikya opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, pouncing after UPPC goalkeeper Rogers Omedwa hesitated on a routine clearance in this StarTimes Uganda Premier League fixture. 

Substitute Abdushakur Ramsey Jjemba sealed the result in the 83rd minute to ensure the Cops stretched three points clear of KCCA.

It was a disciplined performance from the Cops, who kept  UPPC at arm’s distance to secure their fourth win of the season.

Fifth-placed UPPC, who came into the fixture just a point behind Police, remain fifth on 10 points.

In the day’s other match in Yumbe, UPDF picked up a precious 1–0 away win against bottom-placed Calvary at the Midigo P.S Ground. 

Emmanuel Ochen struck in the 12th minute off a Samuel Ssekamate assist, a goal that ultimately lifted Alex Gitta’s men two places out of the relegation zone.

Calvary’s struggles continued, the newcomers still winless and stuck on one point from six matches. 

Action continues on Thursday with SC Ville entertaining NEC, Express travelling to Lugazi, and Kitara welcoming BUL to Hoima.
