Alex Isabirye has become the third coach in the premier league this season to lose his job after he was sacked by URA.

The former league winner with the tax collectors was sacked following a 2-1 loss to KCCA, the 6th match in 7 that the club has dropped points this season.

He leaves along with assistant coaches Baker Kasule, Crespo Asiku and goalkeeping coach Jamil Damba.

“URA FC and Head Coach Alex Isabirye have mutually agreed to part ways. His exit also includes the departure of Assistant Coaches Richard KasuleCrespo Asiku, and Goalkeeping Coach Damba Jamil,” read a statement on the club website.

He joins Hussein Mbalangu (NEC), Jimmy Kintu Mwera (Calvary) and Simon Peter Mugerwa (Mbarara City) on the list of coaches to lose jobs this season.

Isabirye, who took over the reins in May 2023, leaves after guiding the Tax Collectors through 36 matches, where he registered 17 wins, 9 draws, and 10 losses during his tenure.

Meanwhile, the club has confirmed Edward Golola as the interim coach and will take charge of the double header clash against Buhimba Saints on Wednesday.

“In the interim, Edward Golola will assume the Head Coach role and lead the team into our Match Day 8 fixture against Buhimba Saints on Wednesday, 26th November at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo. The club will announce a new permanent Head Coach and technical team in due course.”

Isabirye leaves the four-time champions with only 8 points out of a possible 21 this season with the club 11th on the log.

URA’s last silverware came in 2014 when they beat KCCA at Mbale to win the Uganda Cup and haven’t won a league trophy since 2011.
