UPDF 0-1 SC Villa

Maroons 3-0 Lugazi

NEC 1-0 Calvary

SC Villa moved to the summit of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over UPDF at the Bombo Grounds on Tuesday.

Coach Zeljko Kovacevic’s men have beaten Police (2-1), Kitara (1-0), NEC (2-1), Buhimba (3-0) and now UPDF.

The record 17-time champions top on 16 points from seven matches, two ahead of second-placed Police.

The only goal of the game came in the 65th minute when Ibrahim Kasinde capitalised on a lapse in UPDF’s defence, calmly finishing past goalkeeper Abdul Kimera.

Villa had an earlier goal ruled out for offside when Najib Yiga tapped in a low cross from Kasinde in the sixth minute.

UPDF nearly conceded again three minutes after Kasinde’s strike, but Kimera produced a fingertip save to deny Reagan Mpande.

The loss marked UPDF’s fifth defeat in seven games, dropping them to third from bottom on six points.

Elsewhere at Luzira, Maroons claimed only their second win of the campaign, dispatching Lugazi 3-0.
