Overview:

Uganda welcome Botswana and Algeria to Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on June 7 and 10 respectively for their World Cup encounters. This is the first time Uganda will be playing at Namboole since 2019.

Uganda Cranes coach Paul Joseph Put on Thursday named his 28-man squad to face Botswana and Algeria in the Fifa World Cup qualifiers next month. 

The Cranes welcome Botswana and Algeria to Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on June 7 and 10 respectively.

This is the first time Uganda will be playing at Namboole since 2019.

The facility was closed off for renovation four years ago following a CAF blacklist for not meeting international standards.

Back to Paul Put’s squad, the StarTimes Uganda Premier League scored big, contributing 11 of the 28 summoned players. 

Five of these include Kenneth Ssemakula, Patrick Jonah Kakande, Umar Lutalo, Ronald Ssekiganda and Braddy Wokorach, who have just won the StarTimes Uganda Premier League with SC Villa.

The others are Crispus Kusiima and Denis Omedi of Kitara FC, Nicholas Mwere of BUL, KCCA’s Joel Sserunjogi and Muhammad Shaban, as well as Vipers’ Allan Okello. 

The Cranes are expected to enter residential camp on May 30.
