SC Villa produced a dominant display to overwhelm Mbarara City 6–1 at Kadiba Stadium in Wednesday’s StarTimes Uganda Premier League action.
The victory moved them into third place and to within four points of leaders Vipers SC, who have 33.
The Jogoos took control early and were ahead inside six minutes when Frank Ssebuufu headed home from a Hassan Mubiru corner.
Five minutes later, Ssebuufu turned provider, setting up Mubiru for Villa’s second after Bernard Ndiguna lost possession in midfield.
Villa continued to press and extended their lead on the half-hour mark through Tony Ankunda, who converted from a rebound.
Aslam Ssemakula added the fourth in the 35th minute, finishing off a swift counter-attack that was initiated by Patrick Kakande and set up by Mubiru.
Najib Yiga made it 5–0 shortly after, tapping in from close range following good work by Ssemakula, before Mubiru completed his brace to cap a commanding performance by the visitors.
Mbarara City, who had fielded a full matchday squad after recent player welfare challenges, struggled to contain Villa’s attacking intensity throughout the contest.
Their consolation came from the penalty spot, converted by substitute goalkeeper Clinton Kamugisha.
The defeat was Mbarara City’s seventh in 14 league matches, leaving them second from bottom on 11 points.
Earlier on Wednesday, Kitara edged Express 1–0 thanks to Patrick Kaddu’s seventh goal of the season.
The result keeps Kitara sixth on 26 points from 13 matches, while Express remain 10th with 15 points.
