The Uganda Premier League engaged Poland’s Ekstraklasa in a knowledge-sharing session focused on league development, with both sides committing to continuous engagement.

The Uganda Premier League has today held a virtual meeting with representatives from Poland’s top division, the Ekstraklasa, in a session aimed at strengthening international collaboration and knowledge sharing.

The engagement follows initial discussions held during the World Leagues Association Assembly by Jovin Jenkins Matovu, UPL’s Chief Commercial Officer, and forms part of a broader effort by the league to benchmark with established competitions across the globe.

The session brought together league leadership and club representatives from Uganda, including Chairmen and Chief Executive Officers, who were invited to benefit from the exchange. On the Polish side, the meeting featured senior officials from Ekstraklasa, led by its President, Marcin Animucki.

Discussions centred on the structural evolution of the Polish league, with Ekstraklasa officials sharing insights into how the competition was established and developed into a commercially viable and professionally managed league. Key focus areas included governance frameworks, commercial growth strategies, talent development pathways, digital transformation, and improvements in match organisation and broadcast production.

The Uganda Premier League delegation expressed appreciation for the openness and depth of the engagement, noting that such exchanges are critical in shaping a sustainable and competitive football ecosystem. The interaction also reinforced the shared ambition of both leagues to build a long-term partnership that delivers practical value to clubs and stakeholders.

In his closing remarks, Uganda Premier League Chief Executive Officer Bainamani Bernard Bampaire said,

‘Thank you, Marcin, for this wonderful arrangement. It has not left us the same. We have benefited greatly from this engagement. In attendance were representatives from FUFA, the UPL Secretariat, members of the Board, and officials from our clubs. We look forward to further engagements.’

On behalf of the Board, Humphrey Mandu added,

‘On behalf of the entire Board, I express our gratitude for this engagement. We strongly believe in building such synergies by working with different stakeholders across the football fraternity from various regions and continents.’

This meeting marks an important step in the Uganda Premier League’s continued efforts to enhance professionalism, drive commercial value and align with global best practices in league management.
