Vipers SC continued their push for an eighth league crown with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over UPDF in Bombo on Wednesday.
Karim Watambala struck late to secure all three points, restoring the defending champions’ four-point cushion over nearest rivals Kitara. The Venoms lead on 47 points.
Watambala’s goal, his ninth of the season, underlined his growing influence in Vipers’ title campaign.
At the same time, KCCA strengthened their position in the top three with a commanding 3–0 win over Express at Lugogo. This was Kasasiro’s fourth straight win.
Sammy Ssebaduka opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a brilliant header off Herbert Achai’s cross.
Ivan Ahimbisibwe doubled the advantage before halftime, capitalising on a defensive lapse by Express.
Said Mayanja sealed the win with a 61st-minute header from Shafik Nana’s delivery. Ssebaduka was named Man of the Match for his creative and decisive display.
Elsewhere, URA claimed a narrow 1–0 victory against Lugazi, with Isma Mugulusi netting the decisive goal in the 63rd minute.
The match saw a flurry of substitutions from both sides, with Moses Aliro earning the Man of the Match accolade for his all-round contribution to URA’s performance.
