Calvary 2-0 Buhimba United Saints

SC 1-0 KCCA

SC Villa claimed a narrow 1-0 win over KCCA in a closely contested StarTines Uganda Premier League encounter at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba on Saturday, while Calvary ended their winless run with victory over Buhimba United Saints.

At Kadiba, KCCA had a lion’s share of possession and fashioned the clearer scoring opportunities, but SC Villa goalkeeper David Lukwago delivered a composed performance, denying efforts from Herbert Achai and Nana Kwikiriza.

The breakthrough arrived on 58 minutes when Hassan Mubiru produced a moment of quality, beating his marker before curling past goalkeeper Mutwalibu Mugolofa to settle the contest. Mubiru was later declared Man for  Match.

KCCA pushed forward in the closing stages, but SC Villa’s defence remained organised to preserve the lead.

The result saw SC Villa move to 44 points in fourth place, just one behind third-placed KCCA on 45, tightening the race in the upper positions.

Leaders Vipers SC remain top with 51 points, followed by Kitara FC on 47.

Elsewhere, Calvary recorded their first win of the campaign with a 2-0 victory over Buhimba United Saints at Midigo Primary School Playground.

Lawrence Olaboro scored both goals in the first half, opening the scoring from the penalty spot after Simon Peter Odeke was fouled, before adding a second shortly before halftime.

Buhimba showed improvement after the break but were unable to find a response as Calvary held firm to secure maximum points.

Despite the victory, Calvary remain bottom of the table with eight points, while Buhimba stay second from bottom on 15, as both sides continue to battle against relegation.
