Overview:
The Royals have made their first move of the transfer window by adding Ghanaian defender Bonney Christopher to their squad ahead of a busy 2026/27 campaign.
Kitara have completed the signing of Ghanaian defender Bonney Christopher on a two-year contract as they continue preparations for the 2026/27 season.
Bonney becomes the club’s first signing of the transfer window, joining a Kitara side preparing to compete in the CAF Confederation Cup, Uganda Premier League and Stanbic Uganda Cup.
The 27-year-old arrives with experience from the Ghana Premier League and Tajikistan’s top flight. Primarily a centre-back, Bonney can also operate at right-back and in defensive midfield.
His arrival adds competition to a defensive department that includes Murushid Jjuuko, Isa Lumu, Benjamin Nyakoojo and Samuel Kato Nimeyimana.
Bonney previously featured for Asante Kotoko, Ebusua Dwarfs and Hearts of Oak before spells with Kerala United and Panjsher Balkh.
The defender said he was looking forward to contributing to Kitara’s ambitions, while head coach Wasswa Bbosa highlighted the Ghanaian’s experience, mentality and ability to increase competition within the squad.
“There is a lot expected of me, from my teammates and the fans, but I want to pledge my commitment and determination to help us win games and titles this season,” he said.
Kitara will be hoping Bonney’s addition strengthens their options as they prepare to challenge on domestic and continental fronts next season.
