KCCA finally got their 2026/27 Startimes Uganda Premier League campaign up and running with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Kataka at MTN-Omondi Stadium on Wednesday.
After a goalless first half, Emmanuel Anyama broke the deadlock in the 57th minute, dashing to the near post to connect with Sammy Ssebaduka’s low cross from the right.
The result will come as a relief to coach Brian Ssenyondo after KCCA’s sluggish start to the campaign.Â
Kataka had chances before the break, with Ali Ssentamu twice failing to find the target, while KCCA improved after halftime to secure the points.
KCCA jumped several places up to eighth on four points, while Kataka occupy the red-flagged zone with just a point.
Police, meanwhile, claimed their second win of the campaign with a 2-0 victory over Lugazi at the Lugazi Grounds in Najjemba.
Richard Matovu opened the scoring in the 69th minute, firing against the underside of the crossbar after being picked out by goalkeeper Hadji Shakuru’s long distribution.
Ramsey Jjemba then sealed the points in the 89th minute with a composed finish after creating space with a sharp dummy.
The result lifted Police to fifth place on seven points, while Lugazi remained searching for consistency.
Elsewhere, Mbarara City and Entebbe UPPC settled for a 0-0 draw in Western Uganda.
