Express scored late to salvage a point in a 1-1 draw against Ntugasaze in their StarTimes Uganda Premier League encounter at Kira Road on Sunday.
The hosts looked set to claim all three points after Kennedy Muserero headed home Jerome Otim’s delivery in the 65th minute.
Express responded with a series of substitutions, introducing Derrick Ddungu, Herbert Asiimwe, Hamilton Nsubuga and Moses Sseruyidde in a quadruple change two minutes later as they sought a way back into the contest.
Their persistence paid off in added time when Henry Wamala converted a pass from John Kiseka in the 90+1st minute to level matters. Wamala’s contribution earned him the Man of the Match award.
Ntugasaze had earlier made four changes, including a first-half replacement of the injured Muhadi Mugerwa by Simon Mukisa in the 41st minute.
The result extended Express’ winless league run to seven matches, leaving the seven-time champions still searching for consistency this season.
Express stay 12th on eight points from nine matches while Ntugasaze remain in the bottom three with just four points after eight games.
