URA 3-2 UPDF

URA grabbed their maiden victory of the 2025/26 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season after edging UPDF 3-2 in a pulsating clash at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, on Wednesday.

The Tax Collectors, who had drawn all four of their previous matches, showed renewed attacking intent from the onset and were rewarded in the 25th minute when Moses Aliro converted Joseph Semujju’s delivery for the opener.

But the army side responded quickly, Andrew Kigozi levelling matters two minutes later after capitalising on slack defending from the hosts.

URA restored their lead just before the break when George Masembe’s effort found the back of the net to make it 2-1.

UPDF refused to roll over, and Samuel Ssekamate’s well-taken penalty in the 54th minute drew them level again after a foul inside the area.

The pendulum continued to swing until URA won a spot-kick of their own 13 minutes from time, Aliro confidently converting to complete his brace and seal the long-awaited win.

The result lifted the four-time champions to sixth place on seven points after five outings.

UPDF remained two positions above the relegation zone in 12th, with just three points from four matches.

Matchday Five continues Thursday with BUL welcoming Express to the Fufa Technical Centre in Njeru, Lugazi visiting Kitara in Hoima, and Mbarara City hosting NEC at Rwamanja Stadium in Kamwenge.
