BUL 0-2 Mbarara City

Seiri Arigumaho was at the double as Mbarara City secured their first StarTimes Uganda Premier League victory of the season when they beat BUL 1-0 in Lugazi on Wednesday.

The win saw coach Livingston Mbabazi’s Mbarara jump seven places up to sixth on five points after four matches.

For BUL, it could not have been a worse start for a team that finished second in the league last season.

Coach Abbey Kikomeko’s boys’ poor start to the campaign has now seen them lose two and draw as many of their four opening games. They are second from bottom on two points.

Still looking for their first win of the season, they had hoped for better fortunes at their new Lugazi home ground.

But it is Mbarara, who were also looking for their first win of the campaign, who put the best foot forward.

Mbarara’s first goal came six minutes to the half time break when Arigumaho stuffed home from close range after BUL failed to deal with a high ball launched into the box from the left.

The second, coming on the hour, was a devastating move that started in their own half before Latif Ssenkubuge was released down the left as Arigumaho continued his run through the middle.

Ssenkubuge had one task, beat Fesali Najib and he would be through to the penalty box.

He did exactly that, leaving Najib on the ground before crossing for Arigumaho to complete his brace and Mbarara’s three points. Arigumaho now leads the scoring chart with four goals. Matchday Four continues on Thursday.
