Buhimba United Saints 2-2 UPDF

Lugazi 1-1 Police

Buhimba United Saints picked up a much-needed point after six successive defeats, twice coming from behind to draw 2–2 with UPDF at Royal Park Butema on Wednesday.

UPDF struck first through a Samuel Ssekamatte freekick on 20 minutes, but the hosts responded when Edson Agondeze levelled in the 39th.

Daniel Kitara restored the visitors’ lead on the hour, only for Agondeze to complete his brace eight minutes later and secure Buhimba’s first point since October.

The result leaves the Saints still in the lower reaches on 10 points but halts a damaging run that had yielded 24 goals conceded across six matches.

UPDF have the same points as Buhimba but are two places above them on goal difference.

At Najjembe, Police missed the opportunity to climb above KCCA after being held by hosts Lugazi 1-1.

Abdul Kalanzi struck home for Lugazi Freedom Mungudit’s ball after 34 minutes before Emmanuel Mugume intervened for Police, putting away Saidi Kyeyune pass on 70 minutes.

Steven Bogere’s side, desperate for points after one win in five before the match, battled well to extend their unbeaten run against the Cops to five meetings.

Police move to 18 points in third, while Lugazi sit precariously above the bottom places on 10 points but will take confidence from another resilient outing.

The action continues on Thursday. Entebbe UPPC host Express at Bugonga Fisheries Ground at 4pm, before SC Villa welcome URA to FUFA Stadium Kadiba under the lights at 8pm – the latter live on Sanyuka Prime TV.
