Uganda Cranes will play its first ever CHAN tournament match in Kampala when they face Algeria in Group C at Namboole on Monday.
The team, managed by ex-SC Villa coach Morley Byekwaso and Vipers assistant Fred Muhumuza will be looking to start on a winning note to enlighten chances of reaching the tournament’s knockout stages for the first time.
Byekwaso believes it is easier done at home than away and wants to start positively.
“We need to do our best to make history. It is the first time we hosting such a tournament here at home and we know the nation is behind us. It is easier to win at home than away, so we are banking on home advantage,” he said
“The target for us and everyone is to advance beyond the group stage and the players plus the technical team have been working towards fulfilling that task,” Byekwaso noted.
Before that, Niger will face Guinea in the group C opener at Namboole.
