KCCA registered a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Buhimba United at the Phillip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo on Tuesday to open a five-point lead at the top of the Uganda Premier League.
The contest was evenly balanced early on, with few clear chances.
Lazaro Muhindo went closest in the opening stages, his long-range effort flashing just over the crossbar.
The breakthrough came in the 27th minute when Rogers Mugisha followed up to score from close range after Buhimba goalkeeper Jamil Kiyimba spilled Herbert Achayi’s powerful shot.
Buhimba United responded strongly after the interval and enjoyed a spell of pressure, forcing KCCA goalkeeper Anthony Emojong into a fine save from Anwar Ntege’s bouncing header in the 57th minute.
KCCA steadied through midfield changes and held on for the win, which moved them to 26 points from 11 matches.
In Njeru, Police secured a 3–1 away win over BUL to continue their steady start.
Bedia Ikamba gave Police an early lead before Abdul Karim Ndugwa equalised for the hosts. Second-half strikes from Daniel Jakony and Brian Obedi sealed the result, lifting Police to 21 points and into the top three.
At Bombo, UPDF and NEC played out a 0–0 draw, a result that left NEC in mid-table while UPDF remained in the lower half of the standings.
