UPDF 1-0 Wakiso Giants

KCCA went top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table after beating Soltilo Bright Stars 1-0 in Kavumba on Tuesday.

Derrick Nsibambi scored the first half winner for the visitors to go top on 10 points from four matches.

Bright Stars are second from bottom on just two points from four matches.

There was also a shift up the table by UPDF, who edged Wakiso Giants 1-0 in Bombo thanks to Sam Ssekamatte’s penalty.

The soldiers are third on the same seven points as Wakiso, who are below them on goal difference.

At Kavumba, KCCA scorer Nsibambi, Saidi Mayanja, Gavin Kizito and Shafiq Kwikiriza celebrated their summons to Uganda Cranes by ensuring the visitors left Kavumba with three points.

KCCA took the lead on 29 minutes when Mayanja’s through ball found Nsibambi, whose shot went in off a deflection.

The only downside to KCCA’s win was an injury to the goal scorer, Nsibambi, who fell to the turf clutching his thigh before being stretchered off. He was replaced by Emmanuel Anyama at half-time.

Cranes coach Paul Put will now hope Nsibambi’s injury is not worse as Uganda face South Sudan on October 11 in Kampala and in Juba four days later.
