KCCA 2-0 Kitara

Wakiso Giants 1-0 Mbale Heroes

KCCA and Wakiso Giants closed in on leaders NEC on the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table following the pair’s wins on Friday.

Saidi Mayanja and Derrick Nsibambi’s first half goals were enough for KCCA to dismiss Kitara 2-0 at MTN Omondi Stadium while Habert Asiimwe scored the winner for Wakiso in the 1-0 victory over Mbale Heroes at Kabaka Kyabaggu.

The wins were the second for both, with KCCA and Wakiso moving to seven points apiece but the former in second place thanks to a superior goal difference.

On their part, this was Kitara’s second defeat in three matches, a contrast to the high-flying start they had last season.

It leaves The Royals seventh on three points, same marks as Mbale Heroes, who are three places below because of an inferior goal difference.

At Lugogo, KCCA went ahead in the 11th minute when Mayanja stabbed home the opener after a mazy run through a forest of Kitara players legs by Shafiki Kwikiriza.

Nsibambi sealed the three points for KCCA two minutes to half time following a poor clearance from Kitara goalkeeper Crispus Kusiima.

In Wakiso, the hosts held onto Asiimwe’s 15th minute goal off a Marvin Oshaba to secure maximum points.
