Wednesday result
Express 2-3 Wakiso Giants
Wakiso Giants bounced back from their 4-0 defeat to Vipers SC in a big way, edging a five-game thriller in a 3-2 away victory over wobbly Express on Wednesday.
Pilsner Man of the Match, Shariph Kimbowa was the catalyst in it all, scoring once and setting up another in the visitors rare away StarTimes Uganda Premier League victory.
Kenneth Kimera and Andrew Samson Kigozi netted the other two Wakiso Giants goals at Wankulukuku, while Joshua Musoke and Yassar Mugerwa scored for Express.
This was Wakiso’s only sixth win in 21 matches and moves them only in points to 23. The Purple Sharks remain two places above relegation.
Express, who came into this match off a 1-0 defeat to bitter city rivals, SC Villa, were suffering their eighth defeat in 21 matches, keeping them in eighth place on 29 points.
Wakiso went ahead on 10 minutes after a delicious long ball from George Kaddu was killed by Kimbowa, who muscled off his marker before laying it on for Kimera inside the box to do the rest.
Kigozi doubled Wakiso’s advantage on 29 minutes when he struck home from close range Hassan Ssenyonjo’s miscued kick.
It was 3-0 four minutes later, Kimbowa glancing in Kimera’s cross from the left against an Express side that was now at sixes and sevens.
Musoke. however, gave the Red Eagles a glimmer of hope when he pulled one back five minutes to half time.
Mugerwa further reduced the deficit three minutes from full time but Wakiso held on for all three points.
