Solomon Okwalinga came off the bench to score the winning goal as Kitara edged NEC 1-0 to win their first ever Uganda Cup trophy.
In a final played at Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku and watched by a good crowd, NEC dominated proceedings for larger parts of the game but were not clinical.
In the end, Okwalinga who had come on for Paul Mucureezi stepped to divert a low shot from Donato Okello past Benjamin Ochan in the 73rd minute.
There was no more goals as Kitara players, staff and fans sang the Bunyoro Kingdom Anthem at the final whistle in ululations.
The win also earned them a ticket to the Caf Confederation Cup as the Uganda flag carriers in the competition next season.
