- Royal Park, Butema 4pm
Kitara and SC Villa face off at Royal Park, Butema on Wednesday seeking to trim gap on table leaders Vipers.
The two sides are tied on same points, 51, eight behind the Venoms who shared spoils with the KCCA in a thrilling match at Lugogo on Tuesday.
The winning team at Butema will move within five points of the table summit with four matches left to play as they hope to dislodge Vipers.
Kitara assistant coach Wasswa Bbosa, formerly at Villa expects a tough encounter.
“Tough game against a very good side but we are at home and need to maximise the advantage,” he told the club media. “We lost to them at their home and we are tied on points so beating them will open a gap between us,” he added.
His goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige, a league winner with SC Villa a season ago.
“We need to win the game and move three points clear of them,” said Kibirige who will turn guns against his former teammates.
SC Villa’s Najib Yiga who bagged a brace in the previous win over Buhimba United Saints expects a tough game against his former team.
“We know it’s going to be a tough game, but we’re ready to rise to the occasion away from home. We must secure points in Hoima on Thursday to keep our ambitions alive,” he told the club website.
Villa welcome captain David Owori from suspension but there is uncertainty on the fitness of their lead forward Frank Ssebuufu who limped off in the last game.
The reverse fixture ended in a 1-0 win for the Jogoos with Ssebuufu the goal-getter on the day.
There have seven previous encounters between the two sides with Kitara edging the contest with 3 wins, 2 defeats and as many draws.
