The penultimate round of the 2024/25 campaign begins on Wednesday with four fixtures on card include two that could decide the championship.
At Royal Park Butema, table leaders Vipers visit new found rivals Kitara in a fixture they need to win to confirm a 7th title.
However, with a four-point gap between them and second placed NEC who are on 61 points, matching Hussein Mbalangu’s men results will be enough to give the Venoms the championship.
Kitara, further in 7th position with 41 points have not much to play for in the game but are aware that victory will give them a psychological boost ahead of the Stanbic Uganda Cup clash in the semi-final second leg that comes three days later.
The reverse fixture in the premier league at Kitende in a stalemate but Kitara are still looking for their first league victory over Vipers in history.
Meanwhile, NEC who travel to Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku to face outgoing champions SC Villa know they must win and also pray that Vipers falter in Hoima.
The fixture is a repeat of last season’s decider which the Jogoos won 2-0 at Lugogo to claim the title from the jaws of Vipers.
Villa have warned the visitors not to expect mercy as they aim to climb up the table from 6th place where they sit on 42 points.
Elsewhere, KCCA will hope to continue their newfound form when they host Lugazi, one of the sides that denied them maximum points in the reverse fixture.
KCCA are 5th on the log with 44 points while Lugazi are 11th with 31 points and have lost their last three games on the trot.
BUL will also look to confirm their third place when they host Maroons at Fufa Technical Centre, Njeru.
A win will ensure unbeaten Bul of the second round ends the season in 3rd place for a second successive season as they currently are on 53 points, four ahead of second placed URA with two matches to go.
Maroons are in 8th position with 40 points after 28 league matches.
