After partying company with Steven Bogere and Franis Mugerwa, Lugazi FC have announced Simon Peter Mugerwa as their new head coach.
The former immediate Mbarara City coach has signed a one-year contract and will work with ex-SC Villa defender Robert Sekweyama as his assistant.
“We are pleased to announce the appointment of Simon Peter Mugerwa as the head coach of our senior men’s team with immediate effect. Robert Sekweyama has also joined the Leaders as an assistant coach.
“They have signed a one –year contract with the club, individually.”
Besides Mbarara City, Mugerwa also previously coached Proline FC, as well as Police FC, whom he guided from the second tier to the Uganda premier league in just one season, before walking away from the Cops in April 2025.
In addition, he also served as an assistant coach at Fire Masters (2010-2012), SC Villa (2018-19), and Bright Stars (2019-2022).
Similarly, Sekweyama has coached at clubs like Police FC, Wakiso Giants, Maroons, SC Villa, Express FC, and Mbarara City in the capacity of assistant.
Mugerwa’s full coaching staff will be confirmed, and announced in the due course.
