An exquisite rabona goal by Kitara striker Denis Omedi was the highlight as the Royals drew 3-3 with KCCA at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo to progress to the FUFA Super 8 semi finals 4-3 on aggregate on Tuesday.
Omedi also scored the only goal in the first leg 1-0 victory last week. At Lugogo on Tuesday, Jude Ssemugabi also helped himself to a brace for Kitara in a thrilling encounter.
Joel Sserunjogi, Bright Anukani and Hassan Mood scored KCCA’s goals. KCCA went ahead in the ninth minute when Sserunjogi struck home a beauty from outside the 18-yard area, but it was Omedi who set Lugogo alight a minute later.
Having hurt KCCA in the first leg, the Kitara striker contested an aerial ball with the home side’s defender, whom he outmaneuvered.
On the spin, which left the KCCA defender headed in the opposite direction just outside the penalty area, Omedi improvised, crossing his right leg behind the back of the standing left to score a beauty that left KCCA young goalkeeper Anthony Emojong with no chance.
This technique is called a rabona in association football, and Omedi’s goal, here, could win any award anywhere in the world.

Ssemugabi then put the visitors ahead for the first time on 36 minutes before Anukani levelled from the penalty spot on the stroke of half time.
Kitara regained their league three minutes after the break, again through Ssemugabi but Mood rescued a draw for KCCA just three minutes before the hour. However, it was a little too late as Kitara progressed 4-3 on aggregate.

Elsewhere, Vipers just sneaked through the semis on away goals rule after their second leg encounter with NEC ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
