Maroons secured a 2-0 victory over struggling StarTimes Uganda Premier League defending champions SC Villa at Muteesa II Stadium as Matchday 19 wrapped up on Sunday.
A goal in each half from Raymond Walugembe and Abel Eturude sealed Maroons’ seventh win of the season while condemning Villa to their seventh defeat of the campaign.
The result lifts Maroons to eighth place on 27 points from 19 matches, while SC Villa drop two places to ninth with 24 points.
At Wankulukuku, Villa started brightly, with veteran winger Sula Matovu coming close early on, his fierce shot rattling the crossbar.
However, it was the visitors who struck first in the 11th minute. Walugembe latched onto a well-placed pass from Baden Ogama and beat the onrushing Villa goalkeeper, Meddie Kibirige, to slot the ball into an empty net.
Maroons wrapped up the win in the 78th minute, with Eturude punishing his former club by calmly finishing a through ball from substitute Jackson Nunda.
