KCCA came within minutes of a statement win but had to settle for a 1–1 draw after Vipers struck late in a pulsating encounter at Lugogo on Wednesday.
Ivan Ahimbisibwe gave KCCA the lead on 36 minutes from the penalty spot after being fouled by Kevin Dasylva Bady in the box,
The hosts looked set to cut the gap at the summit, but Vipers showed their resilience late on.
In the 87th minute, Abdulkarim Watambala skipped past two defenders before squaring for substitute Beyuku Glodi Munsi, who blasted into the top corner a minute later.
The result keeps Vipers top on 59 points, seven ahead of KCCA on 52, maintaining their grip on the title race.
KCCA’s Shafik Nana Kwikiriza was named man of the match for for his impressive shift in this high stakes encounter.
Elsewhere, Police strengthened their hold on sixth with a 2–0 win over UPDF, Charles Bbaale scoring and assisting Brian James Obedi in a standout display.
Entebbe UPPC returned to winning ways with a 2–0 victory over Calvary – Isa Bugembe and Ambrose Kigozi on target, while Lugazi boosted survival hopes with a 2–0 away win at Buhimba United Saints.
Freedom Mungudit and Hamuza Mulambuzi netted for Lugazi.
