Second placed NEC will hope to keep leaders Vipers within reach by beating UPDF at Bombo on Friday.

The fixture is one of the three on the day and the Bugolobi based side can’t afford to error especially after Vipers fought hard to beat Lugazi and re-establish a five-point gap.

In their past three clashes, NEC boosts a better record with two wins and one stalemate but all the victories have come at home.

Paul Mucureezi, Allan Mugalu and Enock Ssebagala will be crucial for the visitors but must keenly watch Samson Kigozi and company if they are to leave Bombo unscathed.

The army side, coached by Paul Kiwanuka beat Wakiso Giants 1-0 in their last outing and are 10th with 27 points.

At Njeru, champions SC Villa will hope to stun hosts BUL when the two sides face off.

BUL are the only unbeaten side in the second round of the league so far and are 3rd on the table with 36 points while Villa sit in 8th place with six points adrift.

Elsewhere, Mbarara City, yet to secure safety take on URA at Kakyeka with Livingston Mbabazi facing former bosses.

The Ankole Lions are just above the red zone with 23 points while the tax collectors are 5th with 33 points.
