Vipers’ six match unbeaten streak since start of the season faces test at desperate NEC as the two sides face off under Lugogo MTN lights on Friday.
The Venoms head into the clash as the only beaten side in the division so far with 16 points from a possible 18 having dropped points only once in a draw with Villa.
On the other hand, NEC have had an abysmal start to the season with just two wins in 8 matches and are 10th with as many points.
The Bugolobi based side won last season’s corresponding fixture 3-1 but come into this as the underdogs.
Vipers’ victory will lift them to the table summit with a game in hand over the leading pack of KCCA, Villa and Police.
At Bombo, hosts take on struggling Lugazi with either side desperate for maximum points to escape the relegation monster early in the campaign.
The visitors lost 5-1 to Vipers in their last game and need immediate response.
The two are separated by three points with Lugazi above on 9 points in 12th position while the army side lies 14th with 6.
