Match day one of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League 2024-25 continues on Sunday with three matches on card.

At the MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo, six-time Vipers visit NEC in a repeat of the Fufa Super 8 quarter final clash in the late kick off.

NEC literally denied the Venoms title defence last season with a goalless draw that all but ended Vipers’ chances of a third title in a row.

The visitors, under Serbian tactician Nikola Kavazovic will hope on form Allan Okello stays fit and focused to unlock the usually tight NEC defence commanded by former Vipers player Ibrahim Kiyemba.

Milton Karisa and Kenneth Kimera who scored against NEC while at Wakiso Giants last season will be the players tasked to look for the desired match winning goals.

The hosts have star man Allan Mugalu, ex-Vipers midfielder Paul Mucureezi and striker Cromwell Rwothomio to depend on along with South Sudan internationals Joseph Dhata, Atendele Geriga and Gaddafi Wahab.

At Wakissha, Soltilo Bright Stars tests the combo of Steven Bengo and Tonny Mawejje at Wakiso Giants in a highly anticipated Wakiso derby.

The hosts literally a new look squad after departure of many key players but in Marvin Oshaba and David Bagoole, they got experience alongside Hassan Ssenyonjo and Lawrence Bukenya.

Nelson Ssenkatuka remains the key man for the Stars who are managed by ex-Uganda Cranes midfielder Joseph Mutyaba.

In the other game, UPDF visit Maroons with the army side seeking a better start to the season to avoid being involved in relegation skirmishes as it happened last season.

Maroons, playing in front of their fans will be favourites to snatch victory against Paul Kiwanuka’s men.
